Aakash Ganga has incorporated the use of barcodes, email server and a texting component into the IT Network to facilitate speedy communication in case of water contamination. At the detection of a contamination the Water Testing Component sends out an SMS and e-mail alerts to the technician and the SE. The sample information, the sent alert information and the tolerance check report are stored in the Longitudinal Database.
The ITN should support bi-directional communications among villagers, operational staff, and administration. Individuals may send SMS messages to report water contamination or water utilization. AGIN may prompt individuals who are sending information from their mobile phones. For example, a Griha tanka owner may send an SMS message to report water contamination or to request repairs.
ITN should allow villagers to report water quality and utilization. Home owners and operational staff should be able to send an SMS for repair service and for reporting water contamination. Operational staff should be able to send alerts (SMS messages) to home owner’s mobile phone and check service status.
